Grihapravesha is the ceremony that marks the first time someone enters their new home. The ceremony is performed on an auspicious day according to the Astrological calendar. The family enters the new home at an auspicious time, or muhurat, and then performs a puja. The ceremony is meant to protect the home from negative forces.
